To support access to this level of service, we work with a combination of in-network and out-of-network insurance plans and offer cash and financing options. Many patients choose Bedford Breast Center because it allows them to receive specialized care without the restrictions insurance networks sometimes place on physician choice, technology, or appointment availability.
Below is an overview of the payment and insurance options available to our patients.
In-Network Plans
Bedford Breast Center is currently in network with:
Blue Cross PPO
Traditional Medicare (Part B), including with Medigap (Medicare Supplement)
Some Medicare Advantage PPO Plans – many plans in the Los Angeles area have enhanced network access to traditional Medicare providers.
For these plans, Bedford Breast Center will bill your insurance directly. Applicable copays are collected at the time of service, and deductibles or coinsurance may apply depending on your insurance plan.
Out-of-Network Insurance
For patients with out-of-network PPO or POS insurance plans, we can submit an out-of-network claim on your behalf as a courtesy. In many cases, this allows the service to be applied toward your out-of-pocket deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, depending on the specifics of your plan.
Examples of insurance companies that may offer out of network benefits include, but are not limited to:
Aetna
Blue Shield of California
Cigna
United Healthcare
Patients are encouraged to review their plan’s out-of-network benefits or contact their insurance company directly to better understand their coverage.
For plans where we are out of network, payment is required at the time of service.
HMO, EPO & Kaiser Permanente
Because HMO and EPO plans typically do not include out-of-network benefits, Bedford Breast Center does not accept these insurance plans. This includes Kaiser plans.
Patients with these plans may still be seen on a cash-pay basis.
Medicare Advantage Plans
Bedford Breast Center is out-of-network with all Medicare Advantage plans, except those with enhanced network access to traditional Medicare providers.
If you have a Medicare Advantage PPO or POS plan, you may be eligible to use your out-of-network benefits, though your coinsurance and deductibles will typically be higher than in-network rates. We will bill you for any remaining balance after your insurance processes the claim.
Because Medicare Advantage HMO and EPO plans typically do not offer out-of-network benefits, we are unable to accept these insurance plans or offer our cash prices to patients with these plans.
Medi-Cal
Bedford Breast Center is not enrolled as a Medi-Cal provider.
Because most of our services are covered Medi-Cal benefits, regulations generally prevent providers from charging Medi-Cal patients privately for those services. For this reason, Bedford Breast Center is unable to see patients with Medi-Cal as either primary or secondary insurance, including patients who have both Medicare and Medi-Cal (dual eligibility).
Patients with Medi-Cal coverage should contact Medi-Cal directly for assistance locating approved providers.
Cash
For patients seeking care without insurance, Bedford Breast Center offers transparent cash pricing designed to make high-quality breast care more accessible. Our cash payment structure provides clear pricing and other advantages that help reduce costs for self-pay patients, while maintaining the same concierge-level experience.
Financing
Financing options are available for patients who prefer to spread the cost of services over time. Bedford Breast Center offers CareCredit, a healthcare financing program designed to help individuals and families manage out-of-pocket medical expenses.
CareCredit offers a simple online application process and flexible payment options that may make it easier to receive the care you need.
Breast Imaging Coverage
Insurance coverage can vary depending on the type of breast imaging performed.
While most insurance plans cover screening mammograms, additional diagnostic imaging — such as diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, or image-guided biopsy — may be subject to deductibles, coinsurance, or other patient responsibility depending on your insurance plan.
Surgical Care & Billing
Bedford Breast Surgeons bill separately from the Center, and insurance participation may vary by surgeon.
For patients considering surgical care, our surgeons work with a specialized insurance advocacy group to explore potential coverage options. In many cases, this process allows surgery to be covered at in-network rates, even when the surgeon is out of network.
