Leslie Memsic, MD, FACS

Breast Cancer Surgeon

Dr. Memsic brings over 33 years of medical experience to her demanding surgical practice in the Los Angeles area. Breast cancer patients seeking treatment at the Bedford Breast Center uniformly praise her compassion and understanding as well as her miraculous surgical skill. She is among most experienced breast cancer doctors available.

Dr. Memsic brings more than 25 years of specialty expertise as a breast cancer surgeon to Bedford Breast Center; she joined Bedford after 18 years with the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, where she served as an assistant director of surgery, and later as an attending Surgical Oncologist.

Dr. Memsic received her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, and completed her residency in general surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, and her fellowship in surgical oncology and Immunology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she taught surgical residents and supervised the Cedars-Sinai Breast Clinic.

She has been recognized by her peers with multiple awards including Vitals “Most Compassionate Doctor” (received 5 years in a row), “Top Oncologist”, and “Patient’s Choice”; Castle and Connolly named her as one of “America’s Top 10 Doctors”, a prestigious honor, awarded to less than 3 percent of physicians nationally. The expertise, experience and compassion she possesses is what sets her as one of the top breast cancer surgeons Los Angeles has to offer.

Dr. Memsic has a special expertise and personal interest in breast cancer; she is committed to providing her patients an excellent aesthetic result as well as a clinical result. She pioneered skin sparing, nipple preserving total mastectomy, which enables women to have a natural, beautiful appearance after breast reconstruction. She developed a method of nerve sparing axillary lymph node biopsies which vastly improves quality of life post biopsy.

If Hippocrates had a daughter, her name would be Leslie Memsic…..She has been with me every step of the way, more like a sister than a doctor. Leslie Memsic is a tireless breast cancer warrior.
